Patterns of Japanese sword have been highly regarded by most sword collectors. However, after years of research, study and collection, it is very convincing that Chinese sword, with longer and broader history in sword smiths and culture, should be equally appreciated and respected, if not much more.
The blade of gentle curvature is called yanmaodao due to goose quill shape. The style of the sword generally confo

rming to the Qing Imperial Regulations for Manchurian officials.
Unusual tip with back edge.
The blade is full polished. Forged of qiangang with the hardened edge and active pattern cleared revealed by polishing, and the beauty of the steel appears entirely. The inserted high-carbon steel shines along the edge and goes around tip. Middle part of the blade is forged of mid-to-low carbon steel to build a semi-flexible and tenacious body. After being carefully polished, the blade is so glossy that it reflects like a mirror. Unfortunately, photograph is unable to clearly indicate its beauty. All polish done by hand, with all natural materials including more than 15 different grades of grindstone, paper, and powder. It takes 15 days of work for an experience polisher. Bunches of pictures show every part of the blade.
The handle and scabbard were recently made by hand.
