Qing Dynasty Military Dagger 清官兵刀

Period: 1800-1900  Handle: 5 " Blade:13 3/4 "  Width: 1 1/4"  Thickness: 3/8"  Weigh: 23 oz with scabbard  

This antique sword as shown is a Qing Dynasty Military Dagger. It is heavy, short with straight back. The thickness of the blade and the tang of  this dagger are generally greater than the swords made in the arm factories of that time..

The blade was manually forged with sanmei – layering construction of a high carbon steel core sandwiched by cheeks of mild steel. The tip of the blade is in its original shape, and only received mild polishing enhancement. All polishing was made by hand with various grades of grindstones, sand papers, and fine polishing powders.

The scabbard and handle are all in original condition without any restoration. The heavy  handle keeps the dagger  in excellent balance, and makes  the dagger very easy to handle
