The sword described here is an Qing Dynasty sword. The blade was made from
the layering construction. It went through a well forged process which give
the blade a solid body and a full balanced soft-hard-soft steel layering
configuration. The sword is well preserved in its original condition, in our
enhancement work, only mild polishing was applied to the blade. All
polishing were done manually with various grades of abrasives including
grindstones, sandpaper and fine polishing powder. The scabbard and handle were newly made by hands from old mahogany wood and engraved with rich sculpture which gives the sword an aesthetic appearance. Zhe Long is not only an antique sword but also a piece of fine art. |
