This sword is a contemporary sword and was manufactured by the Damascus process. The blade was made by welding, twisting, folding and re-welding in several cycles to produce the distinct and durable Damascus layering texture. The steel used for this sword are of two types,  the low-carbon, soft steel for its strength and the high carbon, hard steel for its hardness. The Damascus process requires extensive labor, manufactory skill and prolonged period of time. As a result, the cost of producing such a jian is extremely high. Consequently, the Damascus sword has become a rarity in the present days.

Both handle and scabbard were made by hand from ancient mahogany which has rich color and fine wood texture. They are will illustrated. There are four nuts, equally paced on the scabbard and all made of brass with designed sculptures. These tightly fitted  cuff-like nuts give the scabbard a steady appearance.
