| Description
This slanting handle Yan
Mao Dao is shown here in its original form and condition. No
restoration or enhancement has been made upon it.
The
blade of YanMaoDa has a gentle curvature in the shape of a
goose gill. It was forged with qiangang -layering construction of a
hard steel (high carbon) sandwiched by cheeks of mild steel. There
are parallel fullers on both side of the blade. On one side the two
parallel fullers can be rapped by the fingers, the other side the
fuller towards edge can be felt by fingers, the fuller
near back are barely recognized.
The
guard and wood handle are all original. This is perfect piece for
collection and for practicing polishing and
restoration.
Patterns
of Japanese sword have been highly regarded by most sword
collectors. However, after years of research, study and collection,
it is very convincing that Chinese sword, with longer ad broader
history in sword smiths and culture, should be equally appreciated
and respected, if not much more.
